Hello ! How was your week? I've been doing fine myself, with a lot of succeful worldcup hate-watch under my belt. Let us start with the results of the poll from last edition. We asked which newly announced iOS feature you were most looking forward to, and the majority of you picked the improved Siri. Let us hope it meets expectations. I got a tech accessory this week, and I will be working on a full review for it. So instead of the usual article, I will be sharing my first impressions while I work on bringing you the full review soon.
Now let us move to some news this week.
This week has been a rough one for anyone hoping gadgets would get cheaper anytime soon. Apple raised prices on Macs, iPads, and even the Vision Pro. They are blaming a brutal memory chip shortage caused by AI. You know, the same AI that wants to steal everyone's job. The MacBook Neo jumped from $599 to $699, and similar increases happened across their lineup, except for the iPhone. Do not get too comfortable though, more price changes could be coming later this year. And once Apple moves, most companies tend to follow. So if you had plans to upgrade any of your devices, this might not be the year prices work in your favour. On a more forward-looking note, Qualcomm had a big week too. Their CEO revealed that the company is working on over 40 different AI wearable designs, everything from smart glasses to camera earbuds to actual jewelry. This signals that they think the next computing platform might not be a phone at all. And Sony quietly dropped a new camera sensor, the LYTIA 610, designed to make your phone's secondary cameras finally feel as good as the main one.
On the software side, WhatsApp is finally testing a proper logout option, one that lets you sign out without uninstalling the app or losing your chats. Long overdue if you ask me. And Microsoft is finally fixing the internal search feature on Windows, so it is actually useful now. It searches things locally instead of pulling results from the web and AI.
