Campus Tour with CREN and REAN
IMG_9980

Representatives from the council of renewable energy Nigeria (CREN) and the renewable energy association of Nigeria (REAN) paid a courtesy visit to our facility in Ogun state and expressed readiness to partner with the institute for skill and manpower development.

The president of REAN iterated this in his statement “the sector requires adequate manpower and skills for better service to the industry.  Asteven Renewable Energy Academy has been training Nigerians to understand and learn how to deploy solar power because one of the challenges in the sector was the lack of local capacity". He also added that, “Gradually, the institute is training and sending capable people who can install solar power and entrepreneurs who can start a business, into the market. Generally, this will help to provide employment opportunities and increase income. Also, the impact of the school has helped in terms of reducing the emission from generators".

It is of great necessity that the sector should have a proper accreditation and certification body to check all solar installers. This is the goal and driving force of ASteven Energy Institute.

The institute was very thorough at the curriculum development stage, we interfaced with the technical board and made sure we met all requirements. We also studied the training regimen of other institutes outside Nigeria offering the same service like us; we also studied the electricity sector in Nigeria and its manpower need before the curriculum was developed. The curriculum of NID programme consists of four main components. These are:

  • General Studies/Education
  • Foundation courses
  • Professional courses
  • Supervised Industrial Work Experience Scheme

The institute is fully equipped to provide global quality training.  We would want to reiterate that Asteven energy institute is the only accredited innovation enterprise institute(IEI) accredited by the National Board of technical education (NBTE) to award a national innovation diploma in solar energy technology. This course is for a duration of 2 years with four semester.
