Uzbekistan has developed a special program for IT companies and specialists in the field of information technology

IT-Park is a special economic zone that provides its residents with special conditions and allows IT companies to receive a number of benefits:

• 5% income tax (instead of 12%);
• 5% tax on dividends;
• no corporate tax;
• no unified social payments;
• no customs payments when importing goods for own needs.

Ban on the export of 254 goods from Belarus

On March 23, 2022, the Resolution of the Council of Ministers № 147 came into force, which introduced restrictions on the import of goods from Belarus.

The ban applies to the export of goods to the EAEU member states (i.e. Russia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan), as well as the export of goods to other countries that are placed under the customs procedures of export, temporary export, processing outside the customs territory and re-export.

Kazakhstan has adopted a project of the procedure for procurement by the National Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna Joint-Stock Company

In 2022, a draft of a new Procurement Procedure was published by the JSC National Welfare Fund Samruk-Kazyna and legal entities, fifty or more percent of voting shares (participatory interests) of which are directly or indirectly owned by Samruk-Kazyna JSC on the right of ownership or trust management (hereinafter referred to as the "Procedure"). 

Draft law on Licensing

A working group has been established by Resolution No.38 by the Chairman of the State Great Khural (the Parliament) dated 2021 with responsibilities of preparing the draft law on Licensing which was submitted by the Government, approving the license list and other draft laws submitted together with it for discussion at the plenary session, and drafting proposals.

Patent holders from non-friendly countries will not be compensated

In accordance with article 1360 of the Civil code of the Russian Federation Government of the Russian Federation has the right to, in case of emergency related to ensuring the defense and state security, the protection of life and health of citizens, make a decision to use an invention, utility model or industrial design without the consent of the patent owner with a notice about it in the shortest possible time and paying him an adequate compensation.

Adoption of a new edition of the Labor Code as well as the entry into force of several laws are expected in Uzbekistan

At the twenty-fourth plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, held on March 17, 2022, the senators considered and approved the Law “On approval of the Labor Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan”.

It is noted that when developing the Labor Code in the new edition, the experience of such countries as Germany, Sweden, Norway, Great Britain, Latvia, Estonia, Japan and South Korea was deeply studied.
