What I'm reading - Long international flights are where I get a ton of reading in. This past week I read a book on servant-leadership and I love how the author establishes the idea that meekness is a neglected, but important quality of a servant-leader: "The quality of meekness is sometimes confused with weakness, but when practiced authentically is a sense of strength under control." I've never thought about meekness as "strength under control" but it's a great way to describe it in a way I'll remember. What I'm watching - This video serves as a hilariously informative reminder that it's always better to communicate clearly and not assume anything. Happy Friday! What I'm learning - A wonderful piece of advice to my younger self: discover what you're genuinely interested in. If you can maintain your genuine interest and curiosity as the years accumulate, you will become hard to compete with because you will have skill to go with your passion. I'm learning that if you're interested, you're dangerous. What I'm writing - Last week I shared my book review for The Prodigal God by Tim Keller. It's a short and sweet, yet dense and packed book unraveling the amazing message of "The Parable of the Prodigal Son" in the biblical book of Luke. Some things in this book truly left me speechless as I furiously scribbled and highlighted sentence after sentence. Here is what I highlighted in The Prodigal God by Tim Keller. |
