What I'm reading - Last week we won the football state championship, beating the undefeated #1 team in our state who had already beaten us earlier in the season. Although this is something I wrote, I think hearing what I've learned as a state champion will hopefully benefit you as well. What I'm watching - When asked about the Transfer Portal Era―where players can transfer for whatever reason they want to―Missouri head football coach Eli Drinkwitz had a fantastic answer: "We are such an instant gratification era, myself included―I'm not putting this on anybody, it's the entire world we live in. We are trying to skip the step of adversity and growth―you're never going to be able to skip that in life." The full 2:18 clip is worth your time. What I'm learning - If you know where you want to go in life, people tend to either 1) help, or 2) get out of the way. I'm learning both are useful. What I'm writing - Cal Ripken Jr. is called "Baseball's Iron Man" for a reason. Ripken holds the record for consecutive games played, 2,632, surpassing Lou Gehrig's streak of 2,130 that had stood for 56 years and that many deemed unbreakable. Just Show Up is an insider account of a baseball legend, filled on every page with the grounding, invaluable wisdom our time needs. Here is my book review for Just Show Up by Cal Ripken Jr. |
