It's Friday! Which means there are four things I'd like to share with you. I would love to hear your thoughts and comments, so feel free to reply directly to this email (I respond to every email I receive). Without further ado, here are four succinct, useful, and excellent thoughts from this week:

What I'm reading - The reigning world champions in football—Los Angeles Rams—are led by wunderkind Sean McVay. This exposé on McVay's life is the best article I've read in a long time and an insightful unveiling of what it's like to reach the pinnacle of professional sports.

What I'm watching - Rodney Garner has coached the defensive line at Auburn and Georgia and is currently leading the unit at Tennessee. Known for his intense approach and fiery coaching style, Garner reminds his players that he just wants them to improve: "I try to tell them, don't take the tone, receive the message. That aggressiveness...that's just me wanting to win. That's just me wanting you to be better."

What I'm learning - All of us want to get better at whatever it is we do. But not everybody has the humility to be told how. I'm learning that if you can't be coached, it's really hard to improve.

What I'm writing - Red Auerbach and John Wooden are undeniably two of the best basketball coaches to have ever lived. Among many shared beliefs between them, one stands out: that accolades don't win championships, teams do.
