What I'm reading - Last week, author Michael Bungay Stanier shared an insightful perspective on what motivates people: "There’s two kinds of base motivators for people: Some want to move away from punishment and others choose to move towards reward. I think it's just one of those wiring things. Part of the secret to success is knowing what your motivator is and then using it to your advantage." What I'm watching - The Golden State Warriors recently won the NBA Finals. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr shared a lesson on how he empowers his team and I really love what he says about leadership: "In a strange way, you gain more respect as a leader when you admit that you don’t know everything. When you let somebody else make a decision it makes you more powerful." What I'm learning - I'm learning that in order to go places in life, you'll need hard work and a little bit of luck. If you don't work hard, good luck can only help you so much. But if you work hard, a lucky break can change your life. Hard work and good luck is not either/or. It's both/and. What I'm writing - A famous person who helped change the world originally intended to do something entirely different. But God had other plans. Here's why we should bloom where God plants us, even if it's not where we wanted. |
