It's Friday! Which means there are four things I'd like to share with you. I would love to hear your thoughts and comments, so feel free to reply directly to this email (I respond to every email I receive). Without further ado, here are four succinct, useful, and excellent thoughts from this week:

What I'm reading - Scott Stricklin—athletic director at the University of Florida—recently hired 36-year old Todd Golden as the school's new head basketball coach. This was his response when asked about hiring such a young coach: "It’s like we’re buying fruit in the produce section: You don't want something that's ripe today, you want something that's going to be ripe for a long time."

What I'm watching - If you genuinely want to see improvement in your life—and I don't mean wishful thinking, but true, authentic improvement—this twenty-second video will get you going in the right direction.

What I'm learning - I'm learning that when parents blame others (coaches, refs, teammates, conditions, etc.) after a poor performance, they aren't building confidence in their kid. They're raising an excuse maker.

What I'm writing - When the ice cream cone was invented in 1904, I'm sure nobody figured it would become a model for how to gain sponsors in football. But there's a lot we can learn from ice cream cones about sponsorships.
