A New Year, A Renewed Commitment to Our Soils!

As LILAS4SOILS enters 2026, the project moves decisively into its implementation phase, transforming plans into action across all Living Labs. With 100 demo-sites active, soil sampling completed and transition plans aligned, we are laying strong foundations to scale carbon farming practices and deliver measurable impact across Southern Europe and the Mediterranean.

This year is all about co-creation, carbon farming practice implementation, and soil health monitoring. Through co-creation workshops with farmers, selection of MRV innovators and lighthouses, and soil health baseline results, we are bringing together diverse actors to co-design evidenced-based solutions for healthier soils and more resilient food systems. This newsletter highlights our latest progress and the opportunities ahead to get involved in shaping the future of sustainable agriculture.

👨‍🌾 LILAS4SOILS Farmers: Who are they?

Click to our blog!

LILAS4SOILS is working with 100 demo-sites, of which 85 are commercial farms, evenly distributed across our five Living Labs. This pool of farms spans across small, medium and large farms, and includes very diverse land uses, agricultural and carbon farming practices. Despite the diversity, all farmers are brought together by the common goal to improve the health of European soil. Want to know more about LILAS4SOILS farmers?

LILAS4SOILS has successfully completed its first Soil Sampling Campaign, marking a major milestone as the project fully shifts from selection to implementationOur Living Labs are analysing the soil samples and finalizing transition plans for all 100 demo-sites. Groundwork is firmly in place to measure the impact of carbon farming practices on soil health. Insights on the results of the baseline campaign will be shared in the coming months.

🤝 LILAS4SOILS organizes Co-Creation workshops with Farmers across its 5Living Labs!

LILAS4SOILS is rolling out co-creation workshops with farmers across all Living Labs, taking place throughout January and February to strengthen collaboration and align carbon farming practices with real on-farm needs. These sessions bring together farmers, researchers, and local stakeholders to co-design solutions for healthier soils and long-term impact. SOFRALL and IBERSOILL have already successfully organized their workshops, setting the pace for the remaining Living Labs as the project moves into full implementation.
