Sweet Souls,I'll start with the most pressing news... I just cut off half my hair today! While I know there are a few more important things happening in the world right now, cutting my hair does feel like an appropriate gesture of... Release. Realignment. Lightening up. Amidst the heaviness of the news cycle, I find myself feeling more energized, clear, and ready to step into my work (personally and professionally) than ever before. It's an interesting juxtaposition, but then again, I believe creative spirits have been training for these times. We know all about navigating change, dwelling in possibility, and creating fresh solutions to outdated systems. I keep thinking of this quote by Toni Cade Bambara: βThe role of the artist is to make the revolution irresistible.β On that note, I'll be welcoming an Art Spa retreat group into my home studio in Portland, and in just a few weeks, I'm off to Europe to facilitate creative circles in Portugal and Italy. (There's still time to join for all you spontaneous folks). Gathering feels vital right now, and I'm happy to share that my "Creative Revolution US Tour" plans are coming together for this Fall - thanks for your input on locations! In the spirit of rootsy community-building and creative adventure, it looks like this tour of one-day workshops and spontaneous gatherings wants to be a cross-country road trip. And YOU will be the first to know when I release the tour schedule and map. π |
