Help Us Choose Meeting Topics!

It's time to think about what topics we want to focus on at next year's chapter meetings. Worried about the rising cost of insurance in the age of climate change? Curious how we can make the LA 2028 Olympics more sustainable? Wondering how to combat climate doomism? No Time To Waste: Turning Ideas Into Action

Join us for an Action Meeting on Oct 8th centered all around waste! We'll tackle the waste in our own lives, from plastics to food to energy to paper. Share ideas for habits and products that work for you and hear what's working for others. Learn how to influence the businesses in your community to reduce waste. Some actions we'll take together on the spot; others we'll share resources for so you can make changes going forward. Let's put the ideas from Total Garbage into practice--together!

Artificial Turf Task Force

THANK YOU to everyone who wrote in to support LA's artificial turf motion! As a result, on Tuesday the City Council unanimously passed...a substitute artificial turf motion with many of the same components, but some weakened provisions. We're still reviewing the new motion to understand the last-minute changes, but we remain hopeful this will lay the groundwork for our ultimate goal: a full ban on artificial turf.

This battle won’t be easy; it takes a lot of work and outreach to change minds and policy! If you'd like to get more involved in this effort, contact Terry Saucier at terry.climatereality.sfv@gmail.com or join our next Legislative Committee meeting on Oct. 1 to hear more details.

Congratulations To Pioneer Woman of The Year Terry Saucier!

We are very proud to announce that SFVCR member Terry Saucier, the founder and leader of the SoCal Artificial Turf Task Force, has been chosen to receive the Pioneer Woman of the Year Award for CD3! Terry's passion for the fight against artificial turf has inspired hundreds to band together and work to get this toxic, dangerous substance out of our schools and communities--that's climate leadership in action!

In Case You Missed it...

LA Climate Reality Chapter Chair Charles Miller wrote an article on the problems of artificial turf which was published in the Los Angeles Times. Read The Article Here.
