The Fish Reef Project: Restoring Kelp Forests,

One Reef At A Time

Are you in need of some uplifting news? Join our monthly chapter meeting to hear guest speaker Chris Goldblatt, Founder and CEO of The Fish Reef Project, talk about his inspiring work restoring kelp forests off the coast of Santa Barbara and around the world!

Tuesday, September 9th, 7:00pm Register Here

Chris Goldblatt has spent 35 years on and in the water in every part of the globe. His passion led him to found The Fish Reef Project, which makes artificial reefs that enhance ecosystems and improve local fisheries and food security. He is achieving his goal of creating and implementing direct actions to improve ocean health with guaranteed and measurable results. Chris is also the inventor of systems which create primary funding platforms for large scale ocean restoration and "blue carbon" removal projects that provide verifiable and tangible emissions reductions.

Our state legislature will be voting on important bills over the next two weeks. After the legislative votes, we will be asking you to contact Governor Newsom's office to request his signature on our endorsed bills. Stay tuned for more information . . .

If you're not on our Legislative Team email list, we'd love for you to join so you can receive emails with timely Action Alerts directly from our Legislative Chairs in between newsletters. Please contact Kathy Schaeffer to join this very fun and informative group! Here's a current example:

ACTION ALERT: The Trump administration has announced plans to obliterate the Roadless Rule, a landmark land-conservation policy that has protected many of the most pristine backcountry areas of our National Forest System against costly and harmful road building and logging since 2001. Sign the EarthJustice petition to save the Roadless Rule!

As our members seek solace from difficult times, comfort comes in many forms. Please enjoy this poem shared by Diana Weynand, and if you come across something inspiring you'd like to share, please submit it to climatereality.sfv@gmail.com

There are days when
my earth bound feet
lumber under the burden
of humankind's follies
It is then that the gentle
sea breeze tilts my
chin skywards
to behold a wonder
an ethereal cloud
offering a bouquet of colour
I'm reminded that while
the earth may hold my feet
nature holds my heart
