ASTOR celebrates welcoming travellers since 1974!

50 years ago, Alan Rivers decided to start what has become a family, a community, many Astor marriages and babies. A friendly traveller in his 20s, Alan welcomed everyone who were not only visiting a new city but also were in search of a family. We are now hundreds of Astor friends from all over the world, and we thank everyone that came to celebrate friendship, love, connection, and cheered with us this past weekend.

Our travellers recently visited Broadway Market by London Fields, a hidden East London haven packed with indie vibes, sizzling street food, vintage stalls, and local artists galore. It’s a lively mix of tastes, tunes, and treasures that’ll give you the real pulse of the city.

Summary

The Astor Newsletter is a creative platform dedicated to enriching the experiences of both travellers and the local community by showcasing our events, as well as London's hidden and alternative scenes. Designed and written by our resident artists and collaborators, this newsletter serves as a communal effort to connect and inspire through our events, off-beat tips and insights.

Our newsletter also encourages community participation, inviting guests and local creatives to submit their own articles and contribute to future editions to marketing@astorhostels.com. We are particularly interested in uncovering London’s hidden gems, including free cultural visits, offbeat culinary spots, vibrant party scenes, and unique walking tours. Our goal is to inspire travellers to explore the city in unexpected and exciting ways.

Moreover, we are actively seeking collaborations with visual artists, photographers, musicians, and filmmakers. We offer opportunities to expand portfolios, participate in creative projects, and join our network for future job opportunities. Artists who contribute can even enjoy a free stay at our hostels in exchange for their collaborative work.

Happy travels!
Astor Hostels Team.
