While political engagement has been successful in attaining social and civil rights goals and objectives, those successes have not translated into comparable economic equity and opportunities for those who have been economically denied. There are many reasons for this, not the least of which is corporate influence on government policies designed to enhance corporate profit without regard to the negative effects on diverse populations which purchase corporate products and services. Our models are led mostly by volunteers but require corporate financing. Domestic and Multinational Corporations are major contributors to student engagement and economic equity organizations like HBCUs and Black Student Unions. Our organizations reach millions of customers who have international affiliations, interests, hopes, and visions. Multinational Corporations, including corporate America’s support of our organizations, inevitably result in better outcomes for Black communities and consumers. |
