2025 Annual Business Meeting (ABM/C) will be Virtual

The Annual Business Meeting is the international policy making body of the SLAA Fellowship.

The 2024 ABM/C was held virtually after the 2023 in-person ABM/C.

The virtual ABM/C reduced costs for Intergroups and FWS and led to increased involvement of the international fellowship:

  • highest number of Delegates ever - 63 (35 last year)
  • highest number of participating Intergroups ever - 32 (21 last year)
  • most international participants ever - 21 (6 last year)
  • highest number of observers ever - 11 (3 last year)

The Australian Intergroup had 2 Delegates attending and was entitled to have 14 Delegates

Would you like to be a Delegate at the 2025 ABM/C?  Past Delegates are able to provide training/mentoring.  Contact the Australian Intergroup Chair for more information.

Canberra

Canberra Civic Topic Meeting is an in-person meeting at Canberra’s Griffin Centre in the city centre, which us locals call “Civic”.  It runs at 5pm on Saturday for 60 minutes.

The Saturday meeting briefly moved online during the first covid lockdown in 2020, and is the only remaining face-to-face meeting in Canberra, with the other Canberra meetings on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday staying online to the present day.

Regular attendance is modest at 4-6, but we often greet newcomers and interstate visitors, and invite people to stay for fellowship at the café afterward.

In the current format, we read a Step each week from the basic text, with a Tradition reading once a month, and we invite members to suggest topics to share on if they choose.  We recently resumed holding hands for the Serenity prayer together at the end.
