Hello All, Welcome to the last edition of Marv's Music Mail for 2024! The photo above is from Curtiss A's 43rd Annual John Lennon Tribute in 2022 when Kaat got on stage and sang some songs with us (L to R Alma Engebretson on cello, Kaat, Curtiss A, Marv, Dave Boquist on guitar). More on that in a bit. It's a big weekend of music coming up this week! Starting off with Friday night December 6th from 8:00-11:00 pm, Marv & Kaat will be back at the Barley+Vine in Lakeville. We haven't been there since Valentine's Day so I'm hoping to see many of our south metro fans there. Saturday December 7th Marv & Kaat are at the Iron Exchange Brewery in Maple Plain. We won't be at the Iron Exchange as often next year so if you are a west metro fan, please come out and help us celebrate the last show there for the year. Sunday December 8th it's the 45th Annual Curtiss A John Lennon Tribute. The show is First Avenue's longest running annual show (I don't know of another one that even comes close). It's a band of All-stars, to mention a few: Greg Inhofer on keyboards toured with Olivia Newton John, Steve Brantseg on guitar plays for the Suburbs, Dave Boquist on guitar played with the Jayhawks and Son Volt. Even our sound man is a star, Peter Greenlund toured with Willie Nelson for years. The band has been rehearsing for the last month. It's gonna be another epic show, don't miss it! Next week on Wednesday December 11 is the annual Smiles With Santa at Prior Lake Dental. This is the event to bring the kids to. There will be treats, fun things to do, Marv & Kaat play from 4:30-7:30 pm and of course there is Santa! Saturday December 14 Marv & Kaat will be back at the 620 Club in St. Paul on 7th Street. It is becoming our new favorite place to play. The audience there has been so engaging and fired up that it just brings the best out of us. Come check out this very fun and intimate venue. One last show I'd like to specifically mention is Marv & Kaat at Washington Square in White Bear Lake on Saturday December 21 from 6:00-9:00 pm. We'll be mixing some holiday music into our sets and Kaat says there will be an Ugly Sweater Contest. I'm not sure how we are going to judge that, we'll see how it goes. So come dressed in your holiday finest or your ugliest and enjoy the fun and spirit of the holiday. The list below is everything that is planed so far through the end of December.
