We're in the thick of summertime and welcome to the August 2024 edition of Marv's Music Mail newsletter.

Shane Martin's Songs of the South Alabama Tribute Show had a great set at Summertime by George in St. Cloud, MN with thousands of people attending (photo above).  Other shows in July were at St. Croix Casino Turtle Lake, WI and a fantastic show at the brand new Mississippi Crossings Summer Series, right on the river in Champlin, MN. Thanks so much to the great audiences that attended.  We don't have another one of those shows scheduled now until November.  Watch for that.

There are so many Marv & Kaat shows to pick from in August, but I'd like to point to several that I think will be really special.  First up is Margies Kitchen+Cocktails in Andover, MN on the 1st of August from 7:00-10:00 pm.  The gal that books Margies is Shannon Curfman.  I've known Shannon since she was 14 or 15 years old when she was working with Kevin Bowe on songs for her first album.  She was signed by Clive Davis and had her first national release on Arista records.  She's been a singer and guitarist with Kid Rock for at least 15 years.  She did a show just this past Saturday July 27 at the Hilde Center in Plymouth with her own band as part of the Big Head Todd Concert.  What all this is leading up to is that we'll be celebrating her birthday with her at Margies, so expect some surprises!

We'll be back at the Minnesota State Fair again this year.  Two long days of shows starting Wednesday August 28, show times: 11:00 am, 1:00 pm and 3:00-5:00 pm.  Thursday August 29, show times 10:00 am, 12:00, 2:00, 4:00 pm.  All sets 45-50 min. except the one long one on Wednesday.  We'll be doing different setlists for all the shows and we'll be digging deep. The fairgrounds is a big place but you can find us on the DNR Stage in the DNR park by the big log building and the fish pond.

All of 2024 we're playing the Iron Exchange Brewery the first Saturday of the month and the Chart House the last Friday of the month.
