Welcome to the June 2024 edition of Marv's Music Mail newsletter.

It was a beautiful afternoon and early evening on the patio yesterday at Washington Square in Downtown White Bear Lake.  Thanks to all who attended and thanks to our friend Ken for the photos including the one above.

Fresh off of winning Tribute Band Of The Year at the annual Midwest Country Music Organization Awards Show, Shane Martin's Songs of the South Alabama Tribute Show is back playing a bunch of shows in June.  We're doing concerts in Albertville, Dennison and Lindstrom.  Check out the calendar below for details.  To cap off the month we're playing a set at what is probably our biggest festival of the season, Lakes Jam at Brainerd International Speedway.  June 29th, we're opening the show on the mainstage for Tyler Hubberd, Joe Nichols, Deana Carter, and Chayce Beckham.

I met Tyler Hubberd way back in 2012 at WE Fest.  I was in a band called Hitchville and it was our third summer opening the mainstage.  This was back in the hay day of the event when 50,000 people would show up.  They called it the biggest country music festival in the country. We would do our MainStage set and then after the headliner finished we played another set on a stage at the top of the hill.  We were camping out in an RV right next to that stage.  We stayed over for the next days festivities and along came a white van and trailer with a band we'd never heard of called Florida Georgia Line (Tyler's band).  They opened the mainstage that day and followed up with a show on the hill.  We hung out with them in the RV.  By Fall they were all over the radio and we were seeing them on all the country music awards shows.

It's finally patio season and Marv & Kaat have plenty of shows in June to lure you out to some sweet outdoor spaces for some live music, good food and drinks.  There are two venues this month that Kaat and I are playing together for the first time.  We'll be playing a short set in the amphitheater at Casperson Park in Lakeville as part of their weekly concert series.  Opening for the High 48s on June 19th at 6:00 pm.  June 20th we'll play the outdoor space at PD Pappy's, riverside in Stillwater from 6:00-9:00 pm.
