Hello All,

Welcome to the August edition of Marv's Music Mail Newsletter. Thanks so much for subscribing!  The picture above is from the end of our set at Iconic Fest in Brainerd, July 8th.  As you can tell from the photo we had a great audience at the festival!  The Songs of the South band pictured left to right are Shawn Kolles (drums), Me, Mike May (bass), Shane Martin (lead vocal, guitar), Brad Nelson (guitar).  We'll be playing our next show August 10 for Concerts in Sturges Park, Buffalo, MN at 7:00 pm.  Thanks also to Wisch for all the fantastic concert photos!

So we have another month of great summer shows coming up.  Kaat and I have two new restaurants that we will be playing for the first time this month.  First up is Lacey's Kitchen & Cocktails in Kenyon, MN, 4:00-7:00 pm August 17th.  I've known head chef Steve Lacey since his time at Legends in Prior Lake, so I'm sure the food is amazing!  Also, the Kenyon Rose Fest will be going on through the weekend.  The next new restaurant and new venue for us is R Social on Main (on Main Street) in Rogers, MN.  Kaat and I will be playing August 24 from 8:00-10:00 pm.  I'm looking forward to having another venue to play on the north side of the Twin Cities to get closer to all our friends in that area.

I've played the Minnesota State Fair many times before, but it's been a while and never with Kaat.  So I'm excited to announce that Kaat and I will be playing the State Fair DNR Stage August 30 and 31st.  It's near the big log DNR building and fish pond.  Each day we will play 45 minute sets starting at 10:00 am, Noon, 2:00 pm, and 4:00 pm.  If you're trying to decide which day to go to the fair, we hope you'll pick one of our two days and come see us at the fair!  Also, there's discount admission tickets for kids the 30th and seniors on the 31st.
