Hello All,

Welcome to the Newsletter for August 2026!

In the middle of July Marv & Kaat went on a western tour. Heading to Brookings SD for a couple of sets at the Brookings Summer Arts Festival, followed by a show at a local venue called Skinner's Pub. We had such a great reception at all our shows there! From there we stopped in the Black Hills, camping for a night and a 8.5 mile day hike to the highest point in South Dakota, Black Elk Peak. Next, we headed to Red Lodge, Montana, staying with a friend before crossing over Bear Tooth Pass on the Bear Tooth Highway to spend a day in Yellowstone National Park and back to Red Lodge that night. Moving on from there, we drove to Columbia Falls, MT near the west entrance to Glacier National Park to stay with my daughter for a couple days. We checked out and made connections with the local music scene, went white water rafting, and drove the Going to the Sun Road to Logan Pass in Glacier. The photo above is from our hike at Logan Pass across snow fields up to the Hidden Lake overlook.

We're continuing to promote the latest Kaatwalk EP release, A Week In June and we have cds and t-shirts for sale at all the shows. If you can't make it to a show and would like a cd or t-shirt, just email me and we can make it happen. Prior to going on our westward trip we had a studio session to get basic tracks down for the last four songs of the upcoming Kaatwalk album, which is slated for release on October 2nd. We had a dream band in the studio including John Wright on bass, Martial Besombes on piano, and Noah Levy (Brian Setzer, Peter Frampton) on drums. I played guitar and violin. We've been working hard to finish the album, with a release show planned for October 1st. Save the date and I'll have more on that in upcoming newsletters.

There are so many outdoor shows to check out this coming month, too many to mention. I'd like to point out that Shane Martin's Songs of the South Alabama Tribute Show will be happening in Ramsey, MN, closing out the Draw Concert Series on Thursday August 20th. Showtime 6:00 pm. Another unique show for August is a full band Kaatwalk show in St. Paul, MN at the Grand Oak Opry. This is a super popular house concert series in the West 7th neighborhood, Saturday the 29th at 7:30 pm. All are welcome! Info at: https://grandoakopry.com/  Pre party for the show will be August 28th at the 620 Club from 8:00 pm to midnight.

Many people have been asking if we will be back at the Minnesota State Fair this year and the answer is YES! Marv & Kaat will be performing once again on the DNR Stage Wednesday & Thursday September 2 & 3. Set times: 10:00 am, Noon, and 2:00-4:00 pm.
