Hi Friends,

We’re reaching out with an important request that will directly support our shared advocacy for Wisconsin’s public lands.

As many of you know, the Wisconsin State Park System is facing over $1.4 billion in deferred maintenance needs. Behind that number are real projects—trails needing repair, facilities aging, and infrastructure struggling to keep up with growing visitation.

To better understand and communicate these needs, we are asking each Friends group to complete our Maintenance Property Survey.

This survey focuses on identifying the top three priority maintenance projects at your property. Your input will help us:

  • Tell a clearer, more compelling story to state legislators
  • Demonstrate the real impact of the current “user fee” funding model
  • Strengthen our case for sustainable funding and resources
  • Advocate more effectively on behalf of all 118 properties across the state

Survey Details:

  • The survey is divided into two parts and includes required fields
  • Estimated completion time: 30–45 minutes
  • You can save your progress and return at any time

You can access the survey through the button below.

Property Maintenance Survey

Deadline to complete: May 29

We strongly encourage you to complete this survey in collaboration with your Property Manager or Superintendent, as well as with leadership from your board (President/Vice President recommended). Their insight will be critical in ensuring the most accurate and impactful responses.

Our goal is to gather responses from all 65 Friends groups, and your participation is essential.

We will also provide time to discuss this effort during our upcoming Virtual Town Hall on Wednesday, May 6 at 6:00 PM. You can still register through the following link:

This survey is more than a data collection effort—it’s a tool to elevate your voice and the needs of your property. Together, we can build a stronger case for the funding and support our parks, trails, forests, and recreation areas deserve.

Thank you for all that you do. Your dedication continues to make a lasting difference across Wisconsin.

Warm regards,
