Hello, my friend. November, like this year, has flown by. The colorful fall seasons transitions with the frigid cold air and snowflakes briskly descending from the skies. More layers get added in our preparation to hit the trails during the upcoming months. Yesterday, I embarked on a hike at both Blue Mounds State Park and Governor Dodge State Park. Strolling about, I thought fondly on the gratitude of being able to escape and immerse myself away from the hustle and bustle of life. While the forecast was foggy, my mind was clear: I love exploring nature. The thoughts didn't end there, as I contemplated my role. Since taking the role of Executive Director for the Friends of Wisconsin State Parks a mere six-plus months ago, I had to accomodate more room in my heart for so many wonderfully passionate friends groups and park staff throughout Wisconsin that I got to meet so far. Their stories, passion, and unending dedication to supporting these properties fuels the drive to keep being champions for the natural and cultural resources that inhabit them. While it's certainly been a year where challenges regularly presented the 50 state parks, 44 state trails, 15 state forests, and countless natural areas, the Friends across the state only grew stronger, louder, and more passionate. With that, I have only one sentence that while short, is so important to convey: Thank YOU for being a friend. Your support as a donor, volunteer, social media follower, member, etc., means the world to FWSP. We cannot do this without you. As we make progress towards the 2025 finish line, I hope that you will continue to rally with us as a proponent for improving Wisconsin's premier recreational spaces. At this time, we encourage you to consider making a contribution during our Friendsgiving campaign, which is ongoing until Giving Tuesday (December 2nd). Proceeds benefit over 60 Friends groups through the state, supplying valuable tools and resources, and being able to share educational resources to our state legislators. |
