Joint Finance Committee Takes Action. So Should We.

We received official notification that Joint Finance Committee is scheduled to meet at 10am this morning to take action on any and all remaining budget items (see link to agenda here.) This includes items under "Natural Resources" such as funding for stewardship and parks.

You know it best: Possible elimination of the grants like the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program is harmful to the Friend's groups throughout Wisconsin.

The Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program plays a vital role in supporting that work. While many people know the program for its land acquisition efforts, there’s another part that deserves just as much recognition — the annual $500,000 set aside for grants to Friends groups and nonprofit conservation organizations. This portion of the program strengthens the on-the-ground work being done every day in our parks and public lands.

Joint Finance Committee plans to take action today. We need to do so, too.

What can you do?

Contact Joint Finance Committee members ASAP. Do so individually as passionate and loving stewards of our parks, trails, and forests. Tell them to keep the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program. (Contact list here: Joint Finance Committee List.)

Contact your legislator ASAP: Find your Legislator

Contact Governor Evers via phone (608) 266-1212

We have only so much time left, but we know that our efforts are strong. Please don't deter now.

Thank you all for being the strongest advocates for Wisconsin State Parks, Trails, and Forests.

Sincerely,

Seth Taft
