Take Action Today: Support Knowles-Nelson & State ParksIf you haven't heard: A public hearing is set for tomorrow before the Assembly Committee on Forestry, Parks and Outdoor Recreation regarding the Knowles-Nelson Program. This is a crucial time to contact your legislative representatives. As we already know: Each year, $500,000 from the Stewardship program is set aside for grants to friends groups and nonprofit conservation organizations (NCOs) to improve facilities, build new recreation projects and restore habitat on state properties. The program recognizes the important role friends groups play in meeting the development and restoration needs of state properties. The Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program has protected thousands of acres of public land, expanded recreational opportunities, and supported local economies across the state. Yet its future depends on action from our elected officials. At the same time, our Wisconsin State Park System needs continued investment to maintain safe, accessible, and enjoyable spaces for millions of visitors each year. These parks aren’t just beautiful—they’re vital for tourism, health, education, and conservation. 📬 Take one minute today to email your legislators. Ask them to: Fully fund and reauthorize the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program Prioritize increased funding for Wisconsin State Parks Champion public access, outdoor recreation, and conservation
