The Montagu Winter Trail Run Series is the perfect way to stay active and enjoy the beauty of Montagu during the winter months. Scenic trails, fresh air, and stunning views will motivate you to keep moving and make the most of the season.

Six Venues & Two Distances

We have chosen 6 spectacular locations to host the 6 events for the Winter Trail Run Series. Each event has a 5km fun run/walk as well as a 10km trail run.

Enter for one or if you jump now you can still enter for the whole series...if you do enter for the series there are huge perks !

This is a brand new event and promises to be a huge hit.

Medals to all participants as well as a memento to keep 6 medals for those doing the series.

Montagu Trails

1st June

The very first event in the series kicks off in Montagu at the local trails. These trails have been “handcut” over the last 5 years by Chris Burkin and his team for cycling, running and hiking. It showcases the town from the koppie behind the hospital.

Shepherd's Fountain

22 June

Event #2 is hosted by Shepherd’s Fountain just outside of Montagu off the R62. The trails have been coming since 2006 and is stunningly laid out to have 360 degree views of the area and magnificent views of the Langeberge.

Rumali Guest Farm

13th July

Rumali Guest Farm is the host of the 3rd event in our trail run series, situated in the Keisie valley. This event debuts their very first trail, which began taking shape in April this year. Though still in its early days, the route promises a breathtaking experience and a fresh new challenge for runners and nature lovers alike.

5km Fun run walk flat and suitable for all fitness levels

10km Trail Run 458m ascent...for the fit for sure

Drie Kuilen Nature

Reserve

27th July

Event #4 is hosted by Drie Kuilen Nature Reserve. This is going to be a huge highlight in the series as you run animal trails that has been manicured for running and hiking. You will see gemsbuck, eland, zebra and much more.

Gecko Rock

3rd Aug

Event #5 is hosted Gecko Rock Private Nature Reserve. Gecko Rock is well known as an adventure get away, with many different cycling and hiking trails as well as rock climbing and 4×4 routes. Gecko Rock is also known for pristine Karoo vegetation that has been restored since no farming in 25 years done here, just wildlife moving through.

African Game Lodge

31st Aug

This is the grand finale of the Montagu Winter Trail Run Series and what a way to end the winter. African Game Lodge is a stunning venue and you will run through the magnificent Slagkloof. Be on the lookout for wide variety of wildlife: zebra, giraffe, eland, kudu, gemsbuck and many smaller species.
