Volunteers Needed for Doors Open Event at Richard St. Barbe Baker Afforestation Area

Dear Kind Volunteers from the Saskatoon Open Door Society,

I hope this email finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to extend an invitation to you on behalf of the non-profit environmental charity, Friends of the Saskatoon Afforestation Areas. We have been granted a wonderful opportunity to participate in the Doors Open event, hosted by the City of Saskatoon, to celebrate the rich heritage of our beloved city and specifically, the Richard St. Barbe Baker Afforestation Area.

We are thrilled to be partaking in this event for the first time ever, and we believe that your invaluable assistance will make it even more memorable. The event will be held on Sunday, June 25, between 12 noon and 5:00 pm. We have planned two guided tours that are sure to captivate the visitors.

The first guided tour, "Walk Through History: Richard St. Barbe Baker Afforestation Area Doors Open," will commence at 12:00 pm and conclude at 1:45 pm. Following that, we will be hosting another guided tour, "Walk In Time: Doors Open at Richard St. Barbe Baker Afforestation Area," starting at 2:30 pm. Each tour will provide a unique experience and a deeper understanding of the area's significance.

To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for our eco-tourists, we kindly request volunteers to assist with various tasks. These include meeting and greeting the visitors, manning the information table to distribute pamphlets, and guiding them towards the scheduled in-person tours. Additionally, visitors will have the opportunity to partake in a self-guided QR code tour, which they can access using their smartphones and following the red orienteering ribbons along the forest path. This short walk will bring them back to the table and parking lot.

We appreciate any amount of time you can dedicate to volunteering during the event. Whether you are available for the entire duration from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm or can only commit to a few hours within that timeframe, your presence will be invaluable. Your willingness to contribute will undoubtedly enhance the visitors' experience, as they delve into the history, embrace nature's wellness, and celebrate the hidden gem named after the first global conservationist, Richard St. Barbe Baker.

If you are interested in volunteering, please reach out to us via email at friendsafforestation@gmail.com or contact Julia at 306-380-5368. She will be more than happy to provide you with further details and answer any questions you may have.

The meeting point for volunteers will be at the South West Off Leash Recreation Area, which is easily accessible through our website or by using the GPS coordinates provided on your smartphone map.

On behalf of Friends of the Saskatoon Afforestation Areas, I would like to express our sincere gratitude for your consideration and support. Together, we can create a truly memorable and enjoyable day for all visitors, while highlighting the remarkable contributions of Richard St. Barbe Baker.

Thank you once again for your time, dedication, and commitment to our community and the environment.

Warm regards,

Julia Adamson 306 380 5368 friendsafforestation@gmail.com
