To Our Supporters, As Christmas draws near, many of us find ourselves reflecting on the blessings in our lives—family, friends, and the warmth of togetherness. For some, however, this season is marked by deep sorrow, as they cope with the loss of a beloved baby or child. The Christmas season can amplify feelings of heartache and isolation. As well as individual grief counselling, Red Tree Foundation’s Support Groups offer a lifeline, giving parents a place to share their feelings, find comfort, and begin the healing process. We know that these connections can help parents navigate the overwhelming grief that follows the death of a child and provide a sense of hope that they are not alone.
About Our Support Groups: Whether through facilitated peer group meetings or one-on-one peer support, we aim to ensure that no parent has to walk this difficult journey alone. Our most recently introduced support group, ‘Rainbow Babies’ has shifted the immense feeling of loss in grief, to hope. The Rainbow Baby Support Group is a safe, nurturing space for parents who have experienced the profound loss of a child and have now welcomed a "rainbow baby" — a term used to describe a baby born after a loss, symbolising hope and healing after the storm of grief. The group's goal is to offer emotional support, shared experiences, and resources to help parents navigate the complex emotions that come with this journey. The experience of having a rainbow baby can bring joy and hope, but it can also stir up grief and complicated feelings about the child they've lost. This type of support group is vital for parents as they balance the joy of their new child with the ongoing healing process from their previous loss. “This group has been my lifeline. I struggle to relate to other new mothers who have not experienced the grief or loss associated with losing a child. I come to this support group because I know everyone ‘gets it’ and I am truly understood” – Jenny*
