You're invited to celebrate Miami’s Latinx heritage with internationally recognized artists from Cuba, Venezuela, Colombia, Italy, Spain, Mexico, and Turkey! The week-long festival will present 12 concerts, 4 masterclasses, 4 lectures, and a luthiers expo. The festival kicks off on Sunday, February 18 with three Cuban virtuosos: Iliana Matos, Rafael Padron, and Millet Padron (winner of MIGF 2022 Concert Artist Performance Competition) and will continue through February 26 with such world class artists as Benjamin Verdery (Yale University), Laura Verdugo del Rey (Spain), Robert Trent (Radford University), and Los Hermanos Calero (Colombia). On Feb. 23, don't miss the world premiere of “Wynwood Walls” guitar concerto by Stephen Goss, featuring guitarist/composer Mesut Ozgen and the FIU Festival Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Javier Jose Mendoza. Master classes will be open to students of all ages and levels who will perform for the festival artists in front of a general audience. Lectures will be presented in a variety of topics. The luthiers expo will be open to public presenting excellent hand-built guitars by renowned guitar makers on February 19, 25, and 26. More info at migf.fiu.edu.
