FIU Opera Enriches MDCPS with Special Presentation on Young Voices

We are thrilled to share that FIU Opera Director, Robert Dundas, accompanied by Juvenal Correa-Salas, recently led a presentation on "Opera Repertoire for Young Voices" at Hialeah Senior High School for MDCPS teachers. This enriching session, sponsored by the Young Patronesses of Opera, was especially meaningful as three of our FIU alumni, now educators—Alex Toussaint, Stefani Sagaro, and Breanne Moreno—attended.

It was a joy to reconnect with former students and witness their contributions to music education. A special thanks to Dr. Karen S. Veloz, a dedicated member of the Young Patronesses of Opera, for her support in making this event a success.

Opening Night at the 28th New Music Miami Festival

Thank you to everyone who came out last Wednesday for the opening of the 28th Annual New Music Miami Festival, directed by Orlando Jacinto Garcia. It was a night to remember, featuring the acclaimed Amernet String Quartet, FIU's Artist-in-Residence Ensemble, and a lineup of exceptional composers including the First Berlin Prize-winning Laura Schwendinger and Princeton composer/theorist Dmitri Tymoczko.

Your presence made the launch of our festival truly special as we explored the frontiers of contemporary music together. This festival is a platform for innovative soundscapes in Miami's eclectic music scene, celebrating both new talents and esteemed creators.

Continue this musical journey with us on Wednesdays through April 16. Engage with our artists during pre-concert talks at 7 PM and enjoy their performances starting at 7:30 PM. Click here for the full schedule.
