Grammy-Winner Jon Secada Joins FIU Wertheim School of Music Faculty

We are excited to announce that Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Jon Secada will join our faculty this spring, bringing his extraordinary expertise and legacy of global success to FIU!

Last Thursday, Director Karen Veloz shared the news during Career Thursdays where students and faculty gathered to hear about his upcoming course in Live Performance and Stagecraft—a groundbreaking addition to our music program.

With three Grammy Awards (including a Latin Grammy), over 20 million albums sold, and a career that spans chart-topping bilingual hits, international tours, and lead roles on Broadway, Secada’s contributions promise to bring invaluable professional insights to our students. His course is set to deepen FIU’s commitment to hands-on music training, equipping students with essential skills to thrive in diverse and competitive performance settings.

Jon Secada’s addition to our faculty reaffirms our dedication to cultivating the next generation of music industry leaders and to creating fresh, impactful opportunities for our students and the South Florida community.

Stay tuned as FIU’s Wertheim School of Music continues to innovate, expand, and make a lasting impact on the arts!
