Artist: Rötschreck Release title: The Transformation Label: Self-Released Release Date: 30-06-2017 Format: Digital Genre: Death/Hardcore/Groove Metal Country: United Kingdom
Rötschreck was an extreme metal band based in Perth and Dundee, Scotland, and well known as a ferocious live act in the UK's underground scene between 1996-2002. Their distinctive sound married elements of death metal, thrash, hardcore and groove, keeping songs short, intense and catchy. Originally recorded and released in 2001 as an EP under the name "Heatsink", by England's Tenderloin Records, "The Transformation'' includes re-mixed and re-mastered versions of the originals recovered from the old ADAT VHS tapes, lending the songs a depth and punch lacking from the original mix. Lead vocals were also completely re-recorded, and the album includes two previously unreleased tracks - "Drifter" and "Balance" - which were part of the original recording sessions but which never made it onto the Heatsink EP. Now, 20 years since the original release of Heatsink, "The Transformation" unveils one of the hidden gems of the late 90s/early 2000s metal scene in Scotland.
