The Portuguese Grunge/Stoner Rock band, Grind Fever, is making waves with their latest release, 'Runaway'. This marks their first material since the 2019 EP 'Cave Transmission', serving as a tantalising teaser for their debut full-length album. Not just a comeback, 'Runaway' is a significant evolution in the band's sound, showcasing a more mature Grind Fever, much to the anticipation of their fans and the music industry at large.
"'Runaway' feels like a mutation and ultimately the realization of what is real between the shades of the unknown," explains the band. This is Grind Fever’s exploration of human beings' thirst for discovery, dreams of new worlds, and the often blurry line between reality and illusion. "Human beings seek for discovery and dream of new worlds and new societies, and sometimes it is easy to lose ourselves in the void of what is real and what is not," they muse.
For the band, the single marks an exciting point of departure from their previous work. While staying true to their roots, the single displays a groovy new sound, a testament to the band's evolutionary trajectory. "This song feels like a turning point for us. Even though it’s clear the seeds are the same, the result is a different genre that seems to find in its essence the best bites of our musical influences."
The single 'Runaway' was initially crafted around an idea in the rehearsal room, where each band member brought their individual musical influences into play. As a result, it represents an impressive blend of the group's diverse musical inspirations and is expected to strike a chord with fans of Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Queens of the Stone Age, Stoned Jesus, and Black Sabbath.
"We believe people will see a more mature fever and hopefully they will enjoy it," says the band. While they acknowledge that the change in their sound will be apparent, Grind Fever maintains that the essence of their band’s distinctive sound is still very much present in 'Runaway'. This fresh sound, while remaining inherently Grind Fever, is anticipated to appeal to a new demographic of listeners.
The single was a collaborative effort composed by Francisco Figueiredo, Júnior Neves, Ricardo Jorge, and João Neves, recorded and mixed by André Ribeiro, and mastered by Tiago Loja. The band is keen to share their artistic journey and evolution through this new release.
As fans gear up for the release of 'Runaway', the excitement is palpable. Grind Fever's fresh sound and the upcoming debut album are set to solidify their place as trailblazers in the Grunge/Stoner Rock scene. Stay tuned for the 'Runaway' release and experience the new direction of Grind Fever. |
