Nashville-based solo black metal band Lenax, fronted by guitarist and vocalist Venomous, is set to release their new single "Inner Dimension" from their upcoming debut album, "Infection". The band, known for their collaborations with artists from Spain, Greece and Ukraine, has crafted an immersive and dark exploration of the human psyche and the struggle for personal freedom.
Venomous shared the creative process behind "Inner Dimension" and the influence that inspired its sound and direction. He explains: "This song is all about duality, both in sound and meaning. The process was a real give and take between drums that inspired guitar tracks that inspired lyrical lines, and that process kind of repeats itself." This duality is embodied in the song's theme of transforming an inner weakness into power.
Discussing the themes on this release, Venomous elaborates: "This song talks about taking an inner weakness and turning it into power. The song implies this through a metaphor of the narrator undergoing the curse of shape-changing, but then realizing the vastness of the universe in a meditative state." This exploration of self-discovery and transformation is a central theme in Lenax's music.
As for how "Inner Dimension" fits into the band's overall discography and evolution, Venomous sees the album as a starting point for Lenax. "Overall, with the album, this will tie in to a larger theme of embracing our own darkness, but finding what is useful in there, and the strength that comes with becoming the best version of oneself", he says. The upcoming album "Infection", set for release in December, is expected to deliver more dark storytelling through metaphors ranging from war to cosmic horror.
Venomous also expresses his desire for listeners to find their own path and pursue their passions. "I would love to know that a listener found their own path and had the passion to chase after it. After all, that is what life is, living and experiencing all we can in a short amount of time. Allowing others to impede on your happiness and freedom is what needs to be struggled against", he says.
