After a three-year hiatus, Swedish rock band The Sigil is back with their latest single, "Spirit of the Wild", showcasing their unique sound influenced by the likes of Thin Lizzy, Hellacopters, Ghost and Witchcraft. The once duo has now transformed into a five-piece melodic rock phenomenon, and they're ready to captivate fans with their ambitious plan to release one new track every five weeks for the next 50 weeks.
"Spirit of the Wild" is a melancholic scorcher that demonstrates The Sigil's mastery of melodic rock. The single is part of their first triptych, which includes "The Ailing Hour" and "Sanguine Spirits." Originally intended to be an EP, the band decided during the process that each track should be revealed on its own. According to the band, these three tracks touch on similar topics, such as "the esoteric and supernatural, tinged with themes of loss and melancholy."
The Sigil uses their music as an outlet for their interests in the esoteric and occult, blending tales of the supernatural with very human themes of longing and grief in "Spirit of the Wild." They see the new release as "a development from our previous tracks and also a stepping-stone to all the music we will reveal in the coming year", maintaining the distinct Sigil-sound fans have come to love.
The band hopes fans will connect with the new release, saying, "Of course we hope they will love it and share it. Our intent is to grow organically with each release, and we hope many new fans will discover the universe of The Sigil."
Recorded at Sigil Studios, "Spirit of the Wild" is produced and mixed by Tomas Göransson and mastered by Markus Skroch at Studio Kalthallen. The single will be accompanied by a music video, set to be released on March 24th. Keep an eye out for more captivating tunes from The Sigil as they continue to deliver powerful melodic rock with esoteric themes throughout their ambitious release schedule.
