Hi  ,

It's been a while since my last email, and I apologize for leaving you hanging. While I was away, I put things in place to ensure you'll always hear from me, and I'm back with some new updates 🔥

Today, I figured something out from analyzing Tobi Amusan's story. I'm sure you've heard about Tobi Amusan, the Nigerian athlete who recently set a world record twice.

Videos of her are currently splashed all over the internet. Even Whatsapp broadcast mummies have posted her pictures and videos with a think piece or two, and LinkedIn is having a field day.

Tobi Amusan's win stirred new levels of patriotism in many people, and we're all very proud of what she has achieved. But here's the question: how did she go from dreaming about being an athlete to performing on the big stage and smashing world records against all odds? And what can we learn from her?

Well, , I did some digging, and here's what I found:

  1. Tobi Amusan was born in 1997 in Ijebu-ode Ogun state, where she received her primary and secondary education.

Her athletic career/journey began from this time. Although her parents were teachers with athletic backgrounds, Tobi Amusan did not get all the support she needed at first. Her father was worried about her future and wanted her to do something more "serious."

As a result, she had to sneak out to rehearsals while her mother covered up for her. But eventually, her dad came around and supported her too.

While studying at the University of Texas, El-Paso, She was surrounded by people of like minds (athletes) who also believed in her.

, Here's exactly what you should learn:

If you're going to thrive, you need to be intentional about the people around you. You've probably heard this one a lot, but association is key. Be with people who believe in you (you should also believe in yourself), and immerse yourself in a community of quality, like-minded individuals. When I say "community," I don't mean a random group chat where they post fliers and motivational quotes. You need the right community—a real one.

Humans aren't wired to do life alone or with everyone. So, find your people.

  1. Tobi didn't just wake up to find herself in Oregon, USA, competing in the women's athletes' world championship. Her arrival at the stage and her incredible win came from years of consistency and giving herself to the process

Consistency and "giving yourself to the process" is something I'll tell you time and time over. I'll keep saying it because I've seen it play out in my life. Think of the greatest people you admire today. None of them lacked consistency.

If you're ever going to be like them, you must learn the art of consistency. There's really no other way.

3. Tobi's tweet in 2016:

It sounds like a prophecy, doesn’t it?

That's the power of your words. Your words are like fancy containers that deliver what's on your mind. Your words contain whatever is brewing in your mind.

Tobi's 2016 tweet could only have been born from a place of faith and tenacity. And in that frame of mind, it's easier to push yourself to do the impossible.

Your words affirm your beliefs and keep you moving. It's like a never-ending supply of jet fuel.

The thing about words is that if you say them often enough, you're more likely to believe them. So even if your belief isn't on a hundred right now, you can say the words to yourself until the belief roots itself in your mind, And from that belief comes your own supply of jet fuel.

It's been a while, and I thought to remind you of the most important lessons that are often overlooked.

Don't give up, don't allow negativity. Instead, say the right words to yourself and back them up with action.

Keep pushing . I'm rooting for you! 💪🏽

Your gee
