I want to share 3 quick strategies that will make it easier for you to show up every day. 1. Prirotize your activities. Pareto’s principle states that 20% of all efforts are responsible for 80% of the results. You want to identify that 20% and put most of your energy there. You already have a limited amount of time and energy to show up, so don’t waste it. Identify what your most important activities are, and make sure that you do them first. For me, my most important activities are learning new skills and building a brand in public, so I try to spend more time doing things related to this than other things. You don’t want to spend time doing the “necessary” things while ignoring “important” ones. 2. Motivation is a scam. In my last email, I told you how motivation is pretty much useless, except in certain situations, and what you need is clarity.
Winners show up because of discipline, not because they were motivated. I wrote this newsletter because I had to. I have committed to sending newsletters every Tuesday and Thursday, and I have to find a way to get it sent out, even if I’d rather lay in bed and watch YouTube. (In other news, did you see the latest MacBook?) 3. Have a plan and stick to it The best way to NOT show up when you need to is to wing it and say “I’ll do it sometime later”. Newsflash, you’ll never do it. So, set a plan and a system for showing up every day. Do you want to share something related to design on your socials every day? Set aside a specific time to work on it. For example, I work on these newsletters by 9 pm on Sundays and Wednesdays. I have an alarm set and everything.
