GRATA International China shortlisted for Asian Legal Business China Law Awards 2022

We are pleased to announce that two of GRATA International Beijing office’s successful projects have been shortlisted as deal category finalists at the 19 th Annual SSQ ALB China Law Awards 2022 - the pre-eminent legal awards in China.

The 2022 deal category finalists of GRATA International Beijing office are:
1. Equity Deals – Premium: Huaxin Cement Co., Ltd. B-share to H-share project;
2. Energy Deals - Kazakhstan Boguty Tungsten Mine's Equity and Debt Financing Project.

These projects in Kazakhstan were recognized as the landmark China-related deals of 2022. 

GRATA’s team on these projects was GRATA China team led by Gulnur Nurkeeva, head of China Office.

Partner Nune Hayrapetyan held a webinar: Opening a business in Armenia

On July 14, 2022 the webinar: «Opening a business in Armenia» in virtual format was held.

Armenia is a state with a good location, which in recent years attracts a foreign investors, by simplification of starting business procedure, and also by unique culture and national traditions. Thereby, the business in Armenia also become more attractive with introduction of new laws regarding economic environment.

The following issues were discussed: 

• Establishment of a company in Armenia (including the establishment of a subsidiary by a Russian or foreign company);
• Taxation of business in Armenia;
• Features of migration policy and registration of labor relations with foreign citizens.

Partner of GRATA International Almaty held an online meeting of the working group on legal issues

On July 5, 2022, an online meeting was held in the framework of the working group on legal issues of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry France-Kazakhstan.

Assel Ilyassova, Partner of GRATA Almaty, spoke at the meeting on the topic: "Amendments to the Tax Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan". Assel spoke about the amendments that were made to the Tax Code which were sent for consideration to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and were initiated based on the results of the January events of 2022.

On June 27-29, 2022, the annual conference «Astana Finance Days» was held in Nur-Sultan.

Partner of GRATA International in Almaty held a seminar: Current practice of the tax authorities on the taxation of non-resident income

On June 22, 2022, Assel Ilyassova held a webinar on the topic: Current practice of the tax authorities on the taxation of non-resident income and the application of the concept of "a permanent establishment".

As part of the webinar, Assel spoke about the current practice of the Kazakhstani tax authorities on:

• application of the concept of "permanent establishment";
• taxation of income of non-residents who have a registered permanent establishment in Kazakhstan.

The webinar was attended by representatives of large companies in the field of consulting, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, representatives of the Embassy, etc.

GRATA International in Nur-Sultan attended the International Congress Astana Mining and Metallurgy (AMM) 2022

On June 15-16, 2022 the large-scale events of the mining and metallurgical complex Astana Mining and Metallurgy Congress (AMM) was held.

The conference was attended by Partners of GRATA International Samat Daumov and Liya Akzhanova.

AMM opens many platforms for dialogues and includes B2B and G2B meetings with the most significant companies-subsoil users and representatives of state structures of Kazakhstan, an exhibition, networking, and the Golden Hephaestus industry contest.

On June 10, 2022, the Club First Summit was held in Armenia, within the framework of event was meetings of 100 businessmen from Russia and Armenia for acquaintance, build partnerships, develop and open a new business.
