GRATA International lawyers featured in IFLR1000 Women Leaders 2021

In its fourth Women Leaders guide, IFLR1000 recognised 750 most prominent female lawyers globally in financial and corporate transactions and contract, licensing and regulatory project work. This is a selected group of legal professionals with excellent reputations within their jurisdictions who either have expertise and experience of working on complex projects, or who have risen to leadership positions with their firms.

We are glad to announce that two GRATA International’s lawyers were identified among IFLR 1000 Women Leaders 2021:

  • Ummi Jalilova, Partner and Director of Baku office (Azerbaijan)
  • Elvira Maratova, Partner (Kyrgyzstan)

Every year IFLR1000's research teams in Hong Kong, London, New York and Sofia analyse thousands of research submissions, conduct thousands of interviews with law firm partners, and survey tens of thousands of clients to determine IFLR1000's Women Leaders.

GRATA International China shortlisted for Asian Legal Business China Law Awards 2021

We are honoured to announce that Mrs. Gulnur Nurkeyeva, Partner and Head of GRATA China  Office, has been shortlisted for Dealmaker of the Year (International) Award in the forthcoming annual SSQ ALB China Law Awards 2021 - the pre-eminent legal awards in China.

Dealmakers were judged on the number of transactions he/she worked on, total value of the transactions handled in USD and top three highlighted transactions within the period of 1 January 2020 through 31 December 2020.

The ALB China Law Awards recognize the best law firms, legal talents and outstanding performances of China's legal service industry across more than 40 categories. This year, the Awards received more than 1400 nominations from more than 200 law firms and in-houses teams, covering multiple practice areas of China legal market. These prestigious awards will pay tribute to the outstanding performance of private practitioners and in-house teams in China.

The award ceremony of ALB China Law Awards is an annual legal event. The event will bring together legal and business elites across China. Winners will be announced at the black-tie gala dinner and awards ceremony on Thursday, 20 May, 2021 in Beijing.

Aliya Zhumekenova, Counsel of GRATA International has been elected to the EUROBAK Healthcare Committee

On May 4, 2021, an online meeting was held among the members of the European Business Association of Kazakhstan. During the meeting, the members of the association discussed issues on the development of the Healthcare system and legislative regulation, and also elected members of the Healthcare Committee.

We are delighted share the news that Aliya Zhumekenova, Counsel of GRATA International Kazakhstan, has been elected to the Healthcare Committee through democratic elections.

Aliya Zhumekenova is a Counsel with Industry and Trade, Pharmaceuticals and Healthcare Department of GRATA International in Almaty. Aliya focuses on corporate and commercial issues, data and IP rights protection, investments and business restructuring. She has extensive experience in undertaking and supervising a team work for the long-term clients in the fields of pharmaceuticals and medical devices, FMCG, industrial equipment supplies and service companies.

We wish Aliya further success in her new role and fruitful cooperation with the European Business Association of Kazakhstan.

GRATA International Law Firm was represented at the SCO EXPO in the People's Republic of China

On April 26, 2021, the International Investment and Trade Exhibition was held in Qingdao on regional trade and economic cooperation of the SCO countries.

The forum is dedicated to the topic: "Exchange of opportunities for cooperation and the search for open development", as well as the opening ceremony of the EXPO.

The forum was organized to accelerate the construction of the China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization of the local demonstration zone of trade and economic cooperation, to strengthen the local economy and trade cooperation between the SCO countries and to promote business and cultural exchanges.

Within the framework of the Forum, meetings and discussions were held on the provision of legal services to Chinese companies in the implementation of their projects in the SCO countries, with the Counselors of the Embassies and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Russia (established in Kazakhstan).

The sponsors were: the SCO Secretariat, the Chinese National Section of the SCO Business Council, the Shandong Provincial Department of Commerce, and the Foreign Affairs Office of the Shandong Provincial People's Government.

GRATA International will host the International Antitrust Law Online Conference

We invite you to take part in an international conference on the topic: "Topical issues of antitrust regulation in the countries of presence of GRATA International".

Antitrust practice is one of the key activities of GRATA International.

The purpose of our conference is to give an idea of antitrust law in the represented jurisdictions of GRATA, as well as the specifics of its application and current problems.

The conference will be held on June 1, 2021 in an online format through the ZOOM platform.

Time: 9.00 (Moscow time).

The working language is Russian and English.

The first session will be directed to a Russian-speaking audience. Key topics:

GRATA International spoke at the EUROBAK FMCG online meeting

On April 30, 2021, the EUROBAK FMCG webinar  on topic: 'Goods Marking with Means of Identification in the Republic of Kazakhstan' was held. 

Speakers were:

  • Kamila Urazalina, Senior Associate of GRATA International.
  • Danil Gavrin, Associate of GRATA International.

During the meeting, the following issues were considered:

  • Goods marking with means of identification.
  • Goods marking with means of identification in the EAEU.
  • Basic technological organizational model of the system.
