On December 21, 2023 Bolormaa Volodya, Partner in GRATA International Mongolia, received the trophy of the Best Legal Consultant of the year by the Mongolian Bar Association.

Bolormaa is a key Partner of GRATA International in Ulaanbaatar. She focuses on a wide range of corporate and commercial matters, such as M&A, foreign investment into commodities, restructuring and taxation law.

On January 31, 2024, GRATA International, in collaboration with the Kept law firm, will hold a webinar on tax issues. The webinar, titled 'Managing the Tax Efficiency of International Structures in the New Year: Top 15 Tax Changes - 2024,' will address the numerous changes in 2023 that impact international structures. The focus of the webinar will be on adapting business and personal asset structures to these changes.


Lyazzat Zhilkibagarova, Senior Associate of the Tax and Customs Law Department at GRATA International in Kazakhstan, will present on the topic: β€˜Changes in the Tax Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan.’

Recent events


On January 8, 2024, GRATA International hosted a business breakfast on the current topic: 'Changes to the Tax Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2024 and Universal Declaration for Business (Third Stage).' The event took place in a hybrid format, allowing both offline and online participation.


The speakers for the event were Partner Assel Ilyassova and Senior Associate Lyazzat Zhilkibagarova at GRATA International Almaty office.


During the business breakfast, the speakers addressed the following key issues:

  • Tax accounting and deadlines for fulfilling tax obligations

At the event, which took place on December 14, 2023 in the building of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in London, a Partner of GRATA International Beijing office, Gulnur Nurkeyeva, was present among the invited guests. A personal invitation from the President of the AIFC Court, Lord Burnett of Maldon, underlined the importance of her participation in this annual event.


The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, appointed the Lord Burnett of Maldon as the Chief Justice of the AIFC Court following the resignation of Lord Mans, who was the Chief Justice of the AIFC Court from the 1 January 2020 to 31 October 2023. This post has become an important role in the work of the AIFC, which deals with cases related to international investment disputes.


As part of the annual reception, the work of the Astana International Financial Center was also summed up, which added additional context and importance to the meeting. The participation of Gulnur Nurkeyeva in this event testifies to the close ties of GRATA International with international legal authorities and the active participation of partners in key world-class events, which was also noted in the speech of Mr. Campbell-Holt, the Registrar and Chief Executive of the AIFC Court.
