Hi all!
Happy new years!!
Today I have the blog post but you may remember from last weeks email that I also am releasing (have released) my 2022 portfolio! Super happy that it is now out so I hope you enjoy that (link at the bottom of the email :)
Anyways, lets get on with the rest of today's newsletter!

Weekly blog post!
This week I have photos from my new camera which is the Fujifilm XT20! I intend to use this as my main camera for quite a while to come so I hope you enjoy some of the first photos from it!

Top 3 Headlines:

- LG made headlines for a new smartphone camera sensor that is pushing new boundaries on what is possible with a telephoto lens in a phone. Sony already launched a very similar sensor but that was limited to continuous optical zoom from 85mm to 125mm. LG's new sensor could stretch from 100mm all the way to 200mm of continious optical zoom. Since LG doesn't have their own phone to put this in, it will be interesting what companies end up using it ocnsidering Sony's sensors have the majority market share right now. It will be intruiging to see if such a sensor eliminates issues that Sony had where the sensor was shaky in videos and overall lacked quality compared to a fixed telephoto...

- Zoom launched their new lineup of recorders and microphones that look very compelling! These mics are designed for portable handheld interviews (M2 and M4) as well as the M3 which is designed to sit on top of your camera (kinda like a shotgun mic). The recoreders all have excellent battery life as well as phenominal sound up to 32bit recording (unlike prior 24bit recorders). The prices are competitive as well with the camera top M3 sitting at $180ish and the other two at $200 and $400.

- I'm combining these two headlines into one because they both link together... Lets begin with Apples stocks which are down 3% on a continuous trend that many blame on supply chain issues. When looking deeper, it isn't exactly true as Foxconn is actually largely recovered from the supply chain issues and as Apple moves to Foxconn facilities in India, Google is starting production in Foxconns factories in China, previously occupied by Apple. This shows that under Foxconn, Apple shouldn't be facing supply chain issues which leads to a look into predicted iPhone sales which are estimated to be down by 5 million units (falling below 50 million in Q1 of 2023). These headlines were also accompanied by news of Apple entirely scrapping the iPhone 14 Pro's chip design which could have been the biggest advancment in smartphone chips for many years. Many are stating that this move was a huge mistake as the chip is indicated to have supported RTX as well as 50% more GPU bandwidth. The move to scrap the phone and instead replace it with an underwhelming upgrade from the 14 is suspected to have cost the company sales (although not 5 million), it is an indication of poor managment in the company...

Anyways, that is all for the main newsletter but I do have some more below!

For the end of the year I now have my 2022 portfolio released in two forms! I released in on Behance (just like the 2020-21 portfolio) but also released an independent website hosted by DesignWare! The portfolio site is using more modern web technology to show higher quality but faster loading images! This is the replacement for the portfolio page on my blog and you'll find that my blog redirects you to this page now! To briefly touch on the host of this new page, their web technology is fantastic and when hosting as a website (not web app) is entirely free! Definitely happy I was able to find a good host for my future and, in the next few months, my past portfolios! Anyways, you can view the Behance and DesignWare portfolios below. Hope you enjoy and as always, thanks for supporting these!

I released a new site for social links going forward! I realized that I needed a page just to show what socials I am on! The website is organized in a color coded system... the top row shows my most active socials and the second row navy blues show the sites that run on autoposts (RSS feeds) for the weekly blog posts followed by the other ones that I either sometimes used or I have stopped posting on.

Another update I wanted to mention was that my Pinterest page which I've ignored forever actually broke and after logging on I realized that blog posts were not showing up there anymore. If you are a pinterest user, a follow on there would be amazing :)
