NEWS is back!

This is the news from the past week, and with CES, there is a lot of really cool stuff from tech! As always, click on the text to see an in-depth article on that topic.

- To start off, we have leaks of a Google Nintendo competitor which is big for many reasons, first this would contradict rumours that Google would shut down Stadia (considered to be the best cloud gaming service) OR this could be the demise of stadia and launch of Google Play Games as a cloud game service. We already have an announcement from Google about Android games and apps coming to PC by Google through Google Play Games, which could morph into Google's new cloud endeavour.

- Samsung teased the new Exynos gpu with AMD graphics, which is coming in just 4 days (jan 11).

- Google is working on a huge AR smart glass project and brought back members from the team of Google Glass. Considering that it is likely one of the most ahead of its time inventions of the 21st century, it has caused massive hype for a plethora of reasons. Another huge thing that I am speculating is the camera power. The original Google Glass had a camera that for it's time could record decent video of your life. With Google's advances in camera optimization tech in the past few years, it could be pretty awesome for vloggers!

- Google Stadia added a surprise 5 games, which might indicate that Stadia would run on the possible handheld consol and not a new service.

- Microsoft made a huge mistake in a recent Microsoft Teams update for Android which interfere with emergency calling, Google is now releasing an urgent statement for users to update ASAP.

- Samsung released the first ever remote that charges without touching anything. This isn't traditional wireless charging with a charger pad, but charge through the air by converting radio waves from your router into energy. The remote also keeps the last generation's solar panel on the back. This is some fascinating tech that is the base for eventual mini home products like electric toothbrush's to never need to come in contact with a charger.

- Microsoft confirmed that Android 12 isn't coming to the Surface Duo phone BUT, the reason is that Android 12L is releasing in just a few weeks and that will bring better support for the dual screen phone and other phone form factors like foldable and mini screens.

- Twitter just sold their ad platform for mobile: MoPub. They sold the platform to AppLovin for $1.05 Billion!

- OnePlus is gearing up to release its new OnePlus 10 Pro. This continues their Hasselblad "partnership" as well as the Snapdragon 2022 processor with the new naming pattern: Snapdragon 8 gen 1.

- WiFi 6's 2nd release just launched, and it is a slight mess because of the world still being stuck in the "past" with the majority of routers barely having WiFi 5 and only a few routers supporting the first release of WiFi 6.

- The worlds first stock photos of people 100% AI made are now available to use.

- An Antritrust lawsuit is open against Google over the money that Google pays to Apple each year over keeping Google as the default search engine on iPhones. The case reveals that this annual payment has reached over $50 Billion, but the lawsuit is over the fact that this amount is increasing to stop Apple from making their own search engine. Google earns a large portion of money from iPhone users, and loosing this agreement could hurt Google quite a lot.

- One Linux dev is working on a huge project on reworking code of Linux and clearing a mess of code accumulated across the last 30 years that isn't needed to hopefully increase speeds of Linux even further.

- TLC also is working on smart glasses as rumours of Apple and Google working on smart glasses has been coming as well as Facebook (Meta's) smart glasses brand: Rayband.

-The new Realme GT2 launched at a price tag of equivalent $600 USD. It is the first phone running the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, and it seems to show a bit. Despite the phone being impressive in a lot of ways, it doesn't seem to be using all the tech that this chip can unlock in new phones. It seems like a current phone and not a phone of a new year.

- At CES 2022, Intel showed off a way to run iMessage on a PC (their own line-up of PC's). It is tricking iMessage to run which is pretty clever .

- Novato, a new company, was at CES showing invisible headphones! This is a small soundbar that sends off a very preside radio wave to your ears so that other people in the room can only hear a small bit of sound while the person the speakers target receive full high quality audio.

- Canon showed off a new generation of video calling cameras that provides VR emersion on their new video call platform.

- Microsoft is finally rolling out a new Windows 11 photo editor with a few new features. Unfortunately, these features are nothing groundbreaking, but still good to see.

- Huge news about the Sonos suing came out, and the court ruled in favour of Sonos. This initial lawsuit (one of many) is resulting in Google removing universal audio controls from smart speakers. If you play music on multiple Google speakers at once, you will have to adjust the volume of each speaker separately instead of having a universal speaker volume control. I can't confirm it, but this might indicate that chromecast tv's mobile remotes won't be able to adjust volume at all (at least for the near future).

- Google is making plans to vastly improve Android/Windows integration! Google has worked to have very good integration with Android & Chrome OS, but Google wants to also have this integration into Windows. This will expand Google's wall-less ecosystem. The new integration features seem to include a more unified file manager, allowing access to files on your phone from your PC that aren't just photos & videos through Google Photos. This new integration is also coming to Google TV & Android TV allowing you to have earbuds easily connect to your TV's. Apple's ecosystem allows you to tap your phone near a speaker, allowing you to connect earbuds, but little is known about exactly how Google's innovations will work. I really want to talk about Google's expanding ecosystem more in a Medium post because it has some fascinating innovation and motivation behind it.

- New Pixel rumours indicate that Google is going to use an under display camera in their upcoming phones, not sure if it is the Pixel 7 or Pixel Fold rumours, following Samsung's addition of the tech in their folding phones.

And that is all for this week, have a great week all!
