President's Corner It is a singular honor to be president of a group with the long, deep history and enduring passion for cycling that are such defining qualities of Swami's. I want to begin with gratitude to Mark Steele for serving as president for the past four years. Mark began his first term when the world was making its way out of Covid and many long-standing activities had to be rebuilt. He’s worked tirelessly in service to the Swami’s membership and I’ve learned much from his leadership. I’m glad Mark is still with us as Vice President and we are all looking forward to his continuing contributions. |

I’d also like to introduce our newest round of ride leaders, Vargha Dameshghi, Lucy Moses, and Will Moses. Chances are you’ve already ridden with them and experienced their ride leader vibes, so we’re making it official. You’ll be hearing them give pre-ride talks and lead Saturday C group and Sunday rides, joining our current leaders Susan Anthony, Daniel Roys, and Jason Stahl. Finally, a big welcome to Elijah Auer, who in the space of three days found out about Swami’s, went on his first Swami’s ride, the FriDave, and raced the Tour de Murietta as the newest member of the Swami’s racing team. That’s what I call the fast track! For Swami’s members, I hope to see you all at our Spring Club Night on Monday, April 20. 4/5 Social RideOn Sunday, April 5, we're hosting our monthly Swami's Social Ride. It’s a conversationally-paced ride where you can meet long-time as well as new Swami’s members. On Saturday, April 25, we'll visit the beautiful Great Western Loop, featuring long climbs that are not too steep and lots of rolling hills. For those who want to make the most of the gorgeous scenery, there’s an option to add a 30-mile out-and-back to Pine Valley. We’ll roll at 8:00 AM from the Rancho San Diego Towne Center. Swami's racing is getting in gear |

The racing season is in full swing, and Swami’s racing team has been busy with its first race showings. Daniel Nascimento finished fifth in a field of 32 in the Master’s 60+ category at the Dominguez Hills Crit, the third race in the California Bicycle Racing series, on March 22. See the race results here. Swami’s racers Memo Rodriguez, Jorge Franco, Rodolfo Osuna, and Elijah Auer raced at the Tour de Murietta, a two stage race held on March 28-29. They put in a very nice showing In the Cat 4/Novice category, with Jorge and Rodolfo finishing in the points. See the full race results here. |
