President's Corner So many fun things to talk about this month. First, not only are Swamis Lucy Bruemmer and Will Moses getting married this month, but also we are welcoming Lucy to the Swami’s Advisory Board. Looking forward to her input and her influence on the club and its future. Then, what more can I say, it’s Swamdo time. Please register ASAP! Haven’t been training? Join us Saturday 11/1 for a little De Luz fun! I also want to take this moment to remind everyone that safety on all of our rides needs to be paramount. So much of that goes back to positive communication, both on and off the bike. If you see something, point it out. Spot a potentially dangerous maneuver? After the ride, maybe have a conversation with your fellow rider. At the end of the day, we’re all in it together and are out there to enjoy each other’s company and this beautiful sport we all love. 11/1 Swamdo Training Ride #5It’s time for our final training ride before the big Swamdo! After the previous training rides, STR #5 adds the final piece, the beautiful and challenging De Luz climb. The ride will roll from Lost Abbey Brewery in Vista (map) at 8:00 am. Bathrooms will be available before the ride and there will be a BBQ food truck when the rides return! There’s also a short version with half the distance and half the elevation, for those with half the time to ride. Routes: |

11/8 Udo Heinz/Lenz RideOn Saturday, November 8, we'll join Antje Heinz and and Lauren Lentz to ride the 11th edition of the Udo Memorial Ride in remembrance of all cyclists fallen on the road. Through their life stories, we promote respectful behavior toward cyclists on the road. In honor of our family members, friends, or fellow cyclists, let's share the moment over 3 different routes in beautiful San Diego North County. Group leaders and sweepers will ensure safety of the riders. The ride leaves from the Canyon Bicycle Showroom (map), with three route options: See the Udo Memorial Ride page for more information. |

11/22 Lucy and Will Wedding Ride |

|
If you’ve ridden one of the Swami’s rides recently, chances are you’ve met Swami’s members Lucy Bruemmer and Will Moses. If you recognize Lucy’s last name, that’s because she’s a second-generation Swami. Her mom Heather is a former president of the organization and her dad David can be found on the Strava leaderboards of most segments in North County. So it wouldn’t be too much of an exaggeration to say Lucy has been a Swami since she was in utero. As for Lucy’s fiancé Will, the most recognizable part of him is the back of his jersey as he pulls the group around San Dieguito or peels off on the Faraday sprint. Lucy and Will are getting married in November (that’s their excuse for missing the Swamdo) and we’ll join them in a commemorative wedding ride on Saturday, November 22. Lucy and Will have designed a route that honors Swami’s traditions, combining the FriDave and Hoppy Hour rides and symbolizing their walk down the aisle with His and Hers Faraday efforts! |
