So fellow Gurus, it’s time to suit up, wax that chain, inflate the tires, and get the rubber on the road. 6/1 Social RideOn Sunday, June 1, we're hosting our monthly Swami's Social Ride. It’s a conversationally-paced ride where you can meet long-time as well as new Swami’s members. You can check out all of the details here. We start and finish the Social Rides at Bird Rock Coffee Roasters in Bressi Ranch (map). Wear a Swami's kit from any year to get a coffee and baked good, on Swami’s! Note the new route: Because curb stops have been installed to separate the bike lane on Melrose Drive, making it more hazardous for large group rides, we are experimenting with a route that avoids the Melrose segment. Download the new route! Route: 34 miles/1540’ https://ridewithgps.com/routes/48626897 |

Swamis Racing News It's the height of the racing season, and the Swami's team was never far from the podium in May. The Boulevard Road Race was held on May 10. Featuring a 22-mile loop in the back country of San Diego County with close to 1,800 feet of climbing per lap, the race and the 95 degree temperatures took their toll on the field. But the Swamis team was undeterred, with Mark Palmer finishing second in the Masters 65+, Adam Cordi 5th in the Masters 35+, James MacDonald 6th in Masters 55+, and Scott Claes 6th in Masters 65+. See all the results here. Swamis racers continued to podium at the La Copa/Chula Vista Omnium on May 17 and 18. The 2-day event featured the JKC Memorial Hunte Parkway Road Race, on Saturday, held on a 5-kilometer circuit with steady rollers and technical sections. Scott Claes took 2nd and Matt Palmer was 4th in the Masters 65+ category, Rob Rigg was 4th in Masters 40+, and David Bacher was 4th in Masters 60+. See the full results here. The Sunday stage featured the Elite Athlete Center Criterium (EACC), a fast-paced race on a closed-loop course near High Tech High with tight turns, short straights, and tactical sprints requiring both strong and strategic riding. Swamis made a strong showing here too with Memo Rodriguez finishing 4th in Cat 5, Steve Ummel 3rd in Masters 60+, and Mark Palmer taking 2nd in Masters 65+. See the full results here. Congratulations Swami's Racing Team! |
