President's Corner I’ve been nothing but pleased with the partnership between Swami’s and Cadence Cyclery. They have been very accommodating to the club, hosting club nights, providing discounts, and giving us fantastic service. To that end, I would ask our members, if they are looking to purchase a Specialized bike, to make Cadence their first choice of retailers. I know that recently Specialized opened a store locally, directly competing with the authorized resellers like Cadence. So let’s support Cadence like they support us. |

Speaking of Cadence, we are considering changing the start and finish location of the Swami’s Sunday LSD rides to Cadence. If you have concerns or thoughts, please let me know (president@swamis.org). We think the location is more central, having a bike shop available is never bad, and finally, with both Queenstage and Moto Deli, provides more choices for the after ride snack or refreshment. 2/4 Social RideOn Sunday, February 4, we're hosting our monthly Swami's Social Ride. It’s a conversationally-paced ride where you can meet long-time as well as new Swami’s members. You can check out all of the details here. A reminder: we now start and finish the Social Rides at Bird Rock Coffee Roasters in Bressi Ranch (map). Wear a Swami's kit from any year to get a free coffee and baked good! |

2/4 Try the Track Velodrome Clinic! |

On Sunday, February 4, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm, we are again partnering with the San Diego Velodrome to host an introductory track clinic for Swami’s members. Track cycling teaches a smooth and efficient pedal stroke, provides you with excellent bike handling skills, and is safe and a lot of fun - so come to the Social Ride and then head down to the velodrome! This 3 hour session will introduce the basics of riding on a banked track with a fixed gear bike. |

Loaner track bikes will be provided, and no previous experience is necessary. Registration for Swami’s members is free. For registration and additional information go to this link. There is a maximum of 16, so reserve your spot! There are only about 20 velodromes in the US, so this is an opportunity that few cyclists have. More information about the San Diego Velodrome(map) is at https://www.sdvelodrome.com. Finally, if you decide track cycling is for you, Cadence is offering a Swami’s member discount of 15% on Look track bikes! |

New Kit NewsSocks have arrived! We all opened our new kit orders, and after admiring ourselves in it, said, “Wait … I didn’t even get a chance to put the socks in the laundry and already they’re missing?” Your socks are now available and can be picked up at Cadence Cyclery (map). Just let them know you’re there for your Swami’s sock order and they will have the details. Thanks for your patience! Spring ordering window. If you realized there was something more you should have ordered, you don’t need to wait long. The next kit ordering window will happen in March. We’ll offer all of the options that were available in the previous window plus new styles for summer! |
