President's Corner

A team is nothing without its members, and I believe Swami’s members are some of the finest.  We support each other, ride with each other, help fix each other’s flats, and create friendships outside of cycling. Our members are a big reason why being the president of this club for the last year and half has been fun and very rewarding.

A club also needs to be supported and run. To that end, I thank all members of the board of directors and advisory board for all they do. I’m very excited to announce that Kimberly Krenek and Patrick Hailey have joined the Swami’s advisory board. To all members, I say, if you ever want to be more involved with the club, please let us know. We’re always looking for volunteers for our events, and we’re always open to new ideas about how we can improve this club of ours.

10/1 Social Ride

On Sunday, October 1, we're hosting our monthly Swami's Social Ride. It’s a conversationally-paced ride where you can meet long-time as well as new Swami’s members. You can check out all of the details here. A reminder: we now start and finish the Social Rides at Bird Rock Coffee Roasters in Bressi Ranch (map). Wear a Swami's kit from any year to get a free pastry and coffee or drink of your choice.

10/10 Swami’s Club Night

Join us on Tuesday, October 10, from 6:00 to 8:30 pm for our Club Night at Cadence Cyclery! There will be great food from Moto Deli, beer from Rouleur, and discounts on plenty of items at Cadence - see the list below for more details. These will be available until the end of business on Tuesday, October 17, so if you absolutely have to miss the party, you still have a week to use the discounts.

October Swamdo Training Rides

Although the Swamdo is one month closer, there’s still time for you to get your climbing legs! On three Saturdays this month, 10/7, 10/14, and 10/28, we’ll have Swamdo training rides that will take you gradually from 55 miles and 4200 feet of climbing to 83 miles with 6300 feet of climbing, at which point you will be ready to conquer the 101 mile, 8000 foot full Swamdo! Training rides #3 through #5 will leave from Rouleur Brewing (map) at 8:00 am. Note that 10/21 will be our regular monthly Swami’s World Famous ride. More information will be posted at https://swamis.org/events-calendar and our Facebook page as the dates approach.

PS: we’ve made a few updates to the routes, so make sure you download the latest once it’s posted!

PPS: The full Swamdo is Saturday, November 11. Be looking in your inbox for details and registration!

Shuffle Board

We’re excited to welcome two new members to the Swami's advisory board! Patrick Hailey will be drawing on his experience of performing superhuman exploits to help with ride planning and scheduling, and Kim Krenek will help us build and expand our D ride offerings. We're glad to have them on board. Director Tatiana Dearinger is stepping down from her board of directors' duties but is staying on as an Advisory Board member. Her contributions are too numerous to list, and we literally can’t thank her enough for all she’s done as a director over the past two years. We’re thrilled she’s still with us as an AB member!
