September 2023

Fellow Swami's members, September is starting with a bang, with three rides on Labor Day weekend that offer a grand tour of the most diverse and beautiful scenery from Solana Beach to Bonsall. This month also kicks off our Swamdo training rides - join us and maintain your summer fitness level through November! And mark your calendar for Tuesday, October 10, for the next Swami's Club Night! See you on the road!

9/2 Rouleur Labor Day Rides

On Saturday, September 2, we’ll celebrate Labor Day with a classic route that includes Vista Twist, Lilac, and (here’s the labor part) Champagne! The ride leaves from Rouleur Brewing Company (map) at 8:00 am.

Because this is Rouleur, of course there's also a gravel route. Check Rouleur’s Facebook page for more details.

The taproom will be open pre-ride for restroom access and then open again at 11:00 am for tasty beer with Smokin’ Joe's on site serving up their tasty barbeque from 11:00 to 3:00 pm. As an added bonus, Rouleur will be re-releasing their BONESHAKEUR New Zealand Pilsner!

9/3 Social Ride

On Sunday, September 3, we're hosting our monthly Swami's Social Ride. It’s a conversationally-paced ride where you can meet long-time as well as new Swami’s members. You can check out all of the details here. A reminder: we now start and finish the Social Rides at Bird Rock Coffee Roasters in Bressi Ranch (map). Wear a Swami's kit from any year to get a free pastry and coffee or drink of your choice.

9/4 Cadence Labor of Love Ride

On Monday, September 4, the Labor Day celebrations continue with the Labor of Love All Stripes Holiday Ride, an all-groups event leaving from Cadence Cyclery (map) at 8:15 am.The road route includes old favorites Stud Loop, Del Dios, Elfin Forest, and one that will become a new favorite, Canyon de Oro!

Hoppy Hour rides into the sunset

On Wednesday, September 20, the sun sets at 6:48 pm, marking our last official Hoppy Hour ride of 2023. Get your rides in now while it’s still light! The rides leave from Rouleur Brewing Company (map) at 5:30 pm. As always, if you ride in Swami’s kit, the first beer after the finish is on Swami’s. By the way, you didn’t hear this from us, but there’s usually an unofficial mellow Hoppy Hour ride that leaves at 5:15, for those who want their beer with a little less whoopass. What is 106 miles long, 8000 feet high, and coming at you?

Are you ready for the 2023 Annual Swamdo on Saturday, November 11? By the time of the ride the answer will be yes, if you join us for our five Swamdo training rides, which will build your climbing and endurance skills and get you in shape to start and finish strong.

Starting September 23, five of our Saturday rides will leave from Rouleur Brewing (map) at 8:00 am. Dates are 9/23, 9/30, 10/7, 10/14 and 10/28. Note that 10/21 will be our regular monthly Swami’s World Famous ride. More information will be posted at https://swamis.org/events-calendar and our Facebook page as the dates approach. Just in case, there will also be a 70-mile medio and a 40-mile piccolo version of the ride.
