President's Corner

Some good news and bad news. First the bad news. Days are getting shorter and the clock is running out on this year's Hoppy Hour Rides, officially only three left on the schedule. Been meaning to try it out? Join us on Wednesdays at Rouleur in Carlsbad at 5:30 pm. It's a 20 mile hard effort on a fun course with plenty of challenges. To the good news: as part of Swami's focus to get back into racing, we've updated our race reimbursement and it's no longer limited to Master's events. Even if you're competing in a non-USA Cycling event, we might be able to help you out. No harm in asking. We're just getting started!

9/3 Rouleur Labor Day Holiday Ride

On Saturday, September 3, join us at Rouleur Brewing in Carlsbad for the Labor Day Holiday Ride! The event will feature both road and gravel routes. The taproom will open at 7:15 am for restroom use, the ride will roll at 8:00, and the taproom will reopen at 11:00 for tasty beer.

9/4 Social Ride

On Sunday, September 4, we're hosting our monthly Swami's Social Ride, a conversationally-paced ride where you can meet long-time as well as new Swamis. The ride starts and ends at Peet’s Coffee in Bressi Ranch (map). Wear a Swami's kit from any year and you'll be rewarded with a free pastry and coffee or drink of your choice. 9/11 Swami’s Gravel Ride

On Sunday, September 11, gravelers will meet at Lofty Coffee La Costa (map) at 8:00 am for the now-regular Swami’s gravel ride! Look for details on our website as the date approaches. We will regroup at a few points, but please download the route in advance. We finish up at Lofty for coffee.

Just Swamdo It

The 2022 Annual Swamdo is on Saturday, November 12, and if the thought of a century ride with over 8,000 feet of elevation makes you want to reach for your swim goggles, join us for our five Swamdo training rides, which will build your climbing and endurance skills and get you in shape to start and finish strong.

Starting September 24, five of our Saturday rides will leave from Rouleur Brewing (map) at 8:00 am. Dates are 9/24, 10/1, 10/8, 10/22, and 10/29. Note that 10/15 will be our regular monthly Swami’s World Famous ride. More information will be posted at https://swamis.org/events-calendar and our Facebook page as the dates approach.

PS: the Swamdo will also offer 70 and 40-mile options!

Race for Swami’s

Racing is in Swami’s DNA, and you can be a part of it through our race reimbursement program! If you race in a Swami’s kit at USA Cycling sanctioned races, Swami’s will reimburse your race fees. We also offer bonuses if you podium as well as reimbursement for Swami’s kit if you complete five races sanctioned by USA Cycling in a year. What the Hill

Around the new year, we’ll be bringing back an old favorite, the Swami’s Hill Challenge! Once a month we’ll schedule a ride that includes some steep hill training. The purpose is to build climbing skills, so if you feel gravitationally challenged, this is especially for you! We’ll concentrate on pacing and will regroup at the top of all climbs.

If you have a favorite hill that you’d like us to consider, email tatiana@swamis.org. The more suggestions you send, the fewer times we'll climb Double Peak!
