Swami's Cycling Club: Guru News July 2022 |

From our PresidentWith the Poker Ride in the books, I can't help thinking, did everyone else that participated have as much fun, while being properly challenged, both physically and mentally, as I did? I, for one, had an awesome time. That being said, we couldn’t have done it without our many volunteers, both within Swami's family and without. |

So thanks to Rouleur for beer and Zane and Joanie for Rubio's post ride treats. Thanks to Peter, Brian and Sean for hosting the Wolfpack stop. Thanks to Ryan and Levi for hosting the Eliel stop. Thanks to our Swami's volunteers, Laura, Alan, Alyssa and Bryan for hosting stops 3 and 4. Finally, thanks to the whole extended events committee for all the planning, setup and execution. Susan, Mary, Tatiana and Scott, with a special shoutout to Natalie as our MC and Eric for being the head umpire. Looking forward to seeing you all on the Independence weekend rides and the upcoming TdF ride! Mark Steele |

Full House at the Poker Ride |
|
|
---|
After a five-year hiatus, the Swami's Poker Ride came roaring back, with 15 teams dashing, navigating, and improvising their way all over North County. Volunteers at each card station made teams work for their cards, doing push-ups, riding obstacle courses, eating donuts, singing karaoke, and other fun activities. |
|
| |
---|
With creative team names, matching kits, accouterments and serious poker faces, our teams were ready to ride road and gravel to finish this challenging course. Our sponsors, Eliel and Rouleur, were there to add fun and beer, and Rubios provided a delicious spread for the hungry riders. And the winners are: |

Calling all C Riders! It’s summertime, and that means it’s the best time of the year to get to the Tuesday and Thursday 6:33 am Gene Kelley C ride. If you’re a C rider who’s been hesitant because of the recent small C group size, worry no more - you will now have plenty of company. So stop hitting that snooze button and get on down to the Tuesday and Thursday Gene Kelley rides. You don’t need arm warmers, you don’t need a light, and you won’t need to deal with the FOMO! |
