Relicon, the brainchild of Antti-Pekka Meronen, began in 1998 as a solo project, with Antti writing and recording everything himself. After evolving into a full band in the mid-2000s and releasing four demos, the group eventually disbanded. Antti continued creating music online with occasional collaborators until a long hiatus between 2012 and 2017. In 2024, Relicon signed to WormHoleDeath and released the EP “Consequences of Disbelief.” Soon after, drummer Mikko Kuhno and longtime bassist Tuukka Mauranen joined the fold. The trio’s follow-up EP, “Ephemeral Triumphs” (2025), blends re-recorded early material with new experimental directions—including the haunting track “Emergence” featuring guest saxophonist Tommi Palomäki. Fusing Finnish melancholy with gothic and alternative metal, Ephemeral Triumphs dives into themes of inner collapse, surreal journeys, and eerie lullabies—marking Relicon’s boldest statement yet. |
